Erin’s impeccable style and Nate’s easygoing nature combined to create a stunning summer wedding at Cherry Basket. We loved collaborating on Erin & Nate’s Leelanau farm wedding with the couple and the vendor team. It was the perfect summer day, full of sunshine, friends, food, and love. Erin shares more details below. Cheers, to you, Erin & Nate!

What is your connection to Leelanau County?
We’ve separately been vacationing up North for as long as we can remember. My best friend’s family has a cottage on Walloon Lake. Nate’s sister got married in Northport. After the wedding, we’re excited to call Northern Michigan a spot we can share and dream of together.

Briefly describe your style as a couple.
Easy-going, social, filled with wanderlust; we always reference “doing all the things” together, seeing and exploring the world.

Describe how you envisioned the look & feel of your wedding.
Rustic, relaxed, simple, romantic. I’m a giant sap. Nate might be a bigger sap than me.

What did you want your guests to take away from this experience?
We wanted to transport our closest family and friends away from the hustle and bustle of city living and everyday life, to a magical place that we love and adore—giving each guest a little piece of Northern Michigan. The enchanting vibe of the barn and locally sourced food were literally “the cherry on top.” I think we accomplished what we set out to do… we got postcards from the Whaleback Inn, thank you notes for introducing friends to a beautiful area they want to continue to visit and explore, and a lovely wedding that we can’t daydreaming about.

What, if any, were your big stressors during the planning process?
Figuring out transportation/shuttle routes and lodging. We’re used to the land of UBER in Chicago!

Did you find that there were unique challenges to planning a wedding in Northern Michigan?
Yes. It wasn’t always easy to plan a wedding from another state, but with Cammie and the Sincerely Ginger team, the logistical issues quickly disappeared.

What advice would you give to newly engaged couples planning their wedding in Northern Michigan?
Work with a wonderful team so you’re well-connected to the best vendors. Each and every vendor we met through Cammie & Rachel we came to know and love. Sneak a few trips in so you can enjoy Northern Michigan and soak up the process. Why not take advantage of the local bounty? We tried to use as many local wines and products as possible to create the most authentic (and delicious) experience.
